Pain resulting from problems like slipped disc and herniated discs affects a large part of the adult population. The acute pain from these problems, whether experienced as back pain or neck pain, or pain radiating to the legs or arms, causes an extreme degree of discomfort in the affected individual. Often, there is little that the patients can do to relieve themselves of these symptoms-they are resigned to either prolonged periods of rest, or pain throughout their lives. Spinal disc surgery, which is usually touted as a solution, often does not solve the problem. Indeed, in a significant number of patients, the outcome of surgery is more pain with greater permanence. |
