The Laser Solution
Keeping the problems of conventional therapy in mind, LaseRx has evolved a different philosophy for treating back pain. The main elements of this philosophy are as follows :

The correct diagnosis of back pain and an identification of the cause is very important. Back pain has to be looked at holistically, with social and psychological factors, such as occupation, family and social environment, stress,  fitness and body weight all paying an important role in the development of back pain. A meaningful therapy for back pain must be an individual one, based on careful physicial examination
Back pain often resolves spontaneously. By simply arresting the pain spiral with the most conservative measures, such as heat therapy or painkillers at an early stage, one can often prevent chronic back pain in the future
Minimal interference-Maximum Effect: Various treatment methods today allow us to make a treatment plan, adapted to the individual, which guarantees that the expenditure, risk and patient benefit stand in meaningful relationship with each other. A precise diagnosis, a purposeful therapy plan and suitable, modern methods help to become as much pain free as possible, with minimum expenditure and risk and always with the goal of avoiding open operations as far as possible.

Therapy Stages
An open disc operation is often advocated when dealing with acute or chronic back pain. However, after an open disc operation, the patient cannot again resume their normal activities quickly, a lengthy and expensive rehabilitation process is often necessary, and above all, there is a risk that (scarring as a result of such operations) forces the patient to accept the fate of lifelong pain. Therefore, the therapy program of the LaseRx clinic has a staircase like approach, as shown.

The majority of all spinal disk problems heal with a consistent conservative therapy without consequences. This conservative therapy - physiotherapy and pain killing medicines - stands at the lowest stage of therapy stairs. If these fail, then the other minimal invasive treatments noted below are used stage by stage, only if all conservative methods are unsuccessful. should one seize the possibility of an open disc operation?

Minimally Invasive Therapies available at the LaseRx Clinic
Conservative Therapy
It is common to all conservative therapy measures that they do not contain an invasion into the body. Therefore they are always associated with little expenditure and very small risks.

Thus, for example, Physiotherapy is used, in order to improve or repair mobility. Also a special training therapy can help, to help strengthen the back and the associated muscles. With such physiotherapy, giving heat or infrared treatment to the affected areas is also common.

Medicines - usually given in the form of tablets or injections - for pain relief-, also fall into this range. A goal which is often  interrupting a pain spiral. So pain and its associated immobility can lead to muscle sprains, which again leads to pain. Pain Relief injections can prevent such a feedback.

Facet joint blockade
Degenerative changes in the small eddy joints lead frequently to pressure-sensitiveness and movement pain. With the eddy joint blockade this pain is purposefully switched off, in orderss to make sure that the wear of the joint is actually the cause for the pain experienced. In addition, painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs are squirted with a probe under X-Ray control at exactly the joint concerned.

Transformational Block Injection :
Pressing or irritation of nerves within the range of the neck or the lumbar region often results in strong, persistent pain. Such pain can be treated with injection therapy. An injection needle is guided to the provoked and irritated nerve and an active substance (consisting of anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic agents) is injected. The precise adjustment of the needle tip – with use of a contrast medium- is supervised under X-Ray control.  The exact area around the provoked nerve is washed with this special mixture of drugs, which leads to an arrest in the pain spiral, and a reduction in the irritation of the nerve, allowing the body’s natural healing processes to take over.

Pain Catheter Therapy
If injection therapy does not work, a pain catheter is tried. LaseRx is one of the pioneers of the technique, and has treated more than 500 patients with the pain catheter in the last few years. The goals of the treatment are both short-term and long- term. The short term goal of the treatment is to reduce the nerve irritation and also lessen pain. The long-term goal is to reduce the pressure from the disc on the nerve, and thus create a durable solution for the problem.

A special catheter is inserted (using local anaesthetic) into the epidural space channel, and under X-Ray vision control, this catheter is accurately placed in the area where the nerves are irritated and restricted. Then, special substances, including enzymes, anti-inflammatories, anaesthetics, and saline solution are injected through the catheters, to both solve the problem of pain, and reduce the scarring around the nerves. Additionally, the concentrated saline solution helps to drain the surrounding tissues of the disc and shrink it, so that it no longer presses on the nerves. Thus, the basis for a durable cure is created. In the long run, the adaptability of the body is strengthened to deal with the damage.

Microlaser (or Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression)
Sometimes, pain is a symptom of part of the spinal disc pressing on a nerve.  In the microlaser treatment, a laser fiber is introduced under image intensifier guidance into the nucleus of the disc.  The spinal discs nucleus is partially evaporated by the laser, and this has the effect of creating vacuum in this area, which pulls the disc towards its natural position, and relieves pain instantly by withdrawing the pressure of the disc on the nerves

Radiofrequency Ablation Back/Neck joint
It is not Radioactivity related treatment

It is a very good procedure for the patients with low back pain or neck pain commonly labeled as spondylosis. If patient after facet joint blockade comes back then Radiofrequency Ablation can be offered to the pot. Again this is a day care procedure. It is performed under local anesthesia and sedation. Under guidance an X-Ray needle is placed near the facet joint of spine. Once confirmed then the nerve there which is called as median branch to facet joint is heated with Radiofrequency current. Needle is removed after the procedure is over. Few patients may have some discomfort for few days to few weeks after the procedure but it settles spontaneously. Patient can start regular movement from day 2 of the procedure.
