| The Procedure |
 |
| Pre-Treatment |
Generally, all preparations are required before the dentist begins the procedure. Depending on the type and reason for teeth staining, the dentist may do scaling treatment on the teeth before the procedure, and may also use pumice brush on your teeth. In all cases, you will be advised of the exact procedure to be followed, before you undergo the procedure. |

| During Treatment |
Generally, a cheek retractor is used to expose the teeth, and keep the mouth open during the procedure. A rubber dam is applied to the gums, to prevent any inadvertent bleaching of the gums. Generally, the upper eight and/or the lower eight teeth are the only ones visible, and these are the teeth that are selected for bleaching. A bleaching gel is applied to the teeth, and then the laser is used to expose the gel. The gel slowly changes colour as it release the free radical oxygen, and once it turns white, the procedure is finished. Each tooth is exposed for 30 seconds to 1 minute. |

| Post-Treatment |
Some people may feel a slight rise in teeth sensitivity post the treatment. This is transient, and will go away in a few days. No other special precautions are generally necessary |
